You Can Successfully Avoid Being Served
The constitution protects people and corporations from being sued without proper service of process. So, the thinking goes of some defendants, that if they avoid the process server, they avoid being involved in whatever the legal action is. That logic is similar to saying, “If I avoid going to the dentist, I will never have tooth pain.”
The truth is, if physical hand to hand process service fails due to avoidant behavior there are other options open to legal service of process. There is nothing to gain in avoiding being served.
